INTRODUCTION

It has always been one of the five main priorities within NAKMAS; and that is to ensure that every member who practises a traditional or modern martial art within NAKMAS is automatically provided with a top of the range insurance package and that every affiliated club or group is not vulnerable to legal action brought against them. It is essential that there is a provision to protect them from the constant worry of whether they are adequately protected.

NAKMAS have always insisted that insurance must be complusory for its members. This ensures that instructors, assistant instructors, students, secretaries, welfare officers, volunteers, clubs and groups hold insurances that not only satisfy NAKMAS as the governing body but also satisfies all local authorities, sports/leisure centres and facility providers within the United Kingdom that insurance is provided and protects members of the public when seeking to enrol within an accredited martial arts club.

Insurance within NAKMAS form part of the membership to the club and to NAKMAS as well. Each club and group is automatically issued with a NAKMAS General Liability Insurance. This was formally known as the NAKMAS Civil Liability Insurance. This provides an extremely high insurance package (click the General Liability button above to view the full scope of cover) and provides an indepth package which the NAKMAS legal advisors considers as 'more than what is required'.

It is clear that everyone who practises an approved martial art needs insurance protection and equally clear that those who provide the service; for example, clubs, groups and the governing body, need insurance and legal protection. As a member of NAKMAS, you are protected fully and your instructors, clubs and groups need to be congratulated and commended in affiliating to the NAKMAS National Governing Body. It is only NAKMAS that genuinely wishes, not only to protect it members, but also keep members fully updated with any changes in legislation that might effect their practise or business operation.
